WORKSHOP
BESPOKE TAILORING
Made out of a range of materials. At PODO we mix and match a range of thermo-mouldable materials to suit your body type, type and level of activities, age, lifestyle and underlying conditions.
As we preferred flexible materials to hard plastic, you do not have to wear them on and off to get use to them. The orthotics quickly bed in, become even more comfortable and your sensation on them more natural after a week or two.
Both orthotics are different as both feet are moulded independently aiming to provide your body with more symmetry and less unbalance.
For each foot shape to shows on the orthotics and for more precision in our treatment plan, we mould thin layers, one after the other, directly onto your feet, glue them all together and trim the orthotics in front of you.
MEASUREMENT
Made for your feet rather than your shoes, at PODO we rely on your foot print rather than your shoe size.
The PODOGRAPH allows us to obtain the most accurate print for each foot.
We’ll see the unique limits and pressures of each foot which will be used to shape both your left and right orthotics.
VACUUM CASTING / FOOT MOULDING
All materials used at PODO to make your orthotics are thermo-mouldable.
Once every layer has been prepared, they’re heated up under high temperature using PODO-LAB 2.0.
Then, each one is cooled one by one at a time for an extra accurate fit. This seems to be our patients’ favourite part!
SELECTION OF MATERIALS
Each layer is selected from our range of materials one by one to make a bespoke pair of orthotics.
Those choices are made upon:
-
your personal assessment,
-
your lifestyle,
-
your conditions,
-
your underlying conditions (diabetes, gout and other forms of arthritis),
-
your level of activity,
-
the quantity of fat-pad you have left,
-
your foot deformities,
-
your previous experiences with orthotics,
-
and your treatment goal.
Within the PODO Workshop, we mix and match between 3 and 7 materials to make a single pair of orthotics.
By the end of the entire process, you’ll have a pair that you’ll be able to use with most of your shoes.
GRINDING / ORTHOTICS MAKING
Finally, our expertise and experience combine in one essential step: the crafting of the orthotics. Here we want to load or offload specific areas in order to provide you with the right support. So we address your foot, ankle, knee, hip or back pain while treating both feet like two different patients – with two different footprints, foot-mould, orthotics, and plans of action.
This method is designed to use a minimum of space in your shoes (so there’s no need to size up) and improve your overall comfort and quality of life.
At PODO, you walk away with your orthotics into your shoes at the end of your 90 minute appointment!
ORTHOTICS
MADE THE SAME DAY
At PODO, your orthotics are moulded directly onto your feet (no foot cast) then crafted in front of you, during your 90 minutes appointment.
You walk way with your orthotics into your shoes.
We offer TWO TYPES OF ORTHOTICS:
- Short orthotics (3/4 length) , leaving the toe area free. Ideal for Dressy or casual shoes with little or no volume inside available.
Recommended whenever you CANNOT remove the original inner layer (hygienic sole) from the shoes. Also recommended for golfers and weightlifters.
- Long orthotics (full length) . Ideal for casual shoes and Sport trainers.
Recommended whenever you CAN remove the original inner layer (hygienic sole) from the shoes. The runners, cyclists and skiers' favourite set!
As our orthotics are made for your feet, not for your shoes, one pair of orthotics is enough if you manage to wear them a maximum.
Orthotics being a conservative treatment, it requires you to wear them to feel their benefits.
